FIFA World Cup 2022

QATAR’s World Cup Exploits

So far the Qatar World Cup has been an interesting one, from rumours about corruption between Qatar and FIFA to incredible score lines and surprises. This World Cup looks like one we won't forget.

  The Last Dance

The two goats, Messi and Ronaldo won't ever be playing in another World Cup in their extraordinary careers, so this means that the Qatar 2022 World Cup will be their last! Most football fans are hoping that their final will be one to remember and are hoping we see good fights from both of them.

They have one of the most famous rivalries of all time, competing against each other and pushing themselves so that they can be the all time best player to ever play the game. Both Messi and Ronaldo have had rocky starts heading into the World Cup, with Argentina losing their first game against Saudi Arabia and Ronaldo's current drama with Manchester United. Although they are turning it around with Argentinas success against Mexico, which started from Messi's outstanding outside of the box shot and Portugal won against Ghana with Ronaldo scoring a penalty.

Corruption in Qatar!

Most people who follow the World Cup will know that this year's World Cup hasn't had the best start. Firstly, before the World Cup had even started, over 6,500 people had died from building the stadiums. Nothing like this has ever happened before in a FIFA World Cup and is completely unacceptable.

People can't just forget about this because the Qatar government is just sweeping it under a rug and acting like nothing has happened when over 6,500 workers died from the unsafe conditions that they had to work under, but all those deaths weren't the only thing Qatar is trying to forget about…

The first game was about to begin and there were rumours that Qatar spent $11.1 million on the Ecuadorian players so that Qatar could win. They wanted to score a goal in the second half and the end scoreline to be 1-0 to Qatar, but Ecuador didn't agree and instead won 2-0.

Surprising Results of the Group Stages

So far the group stages have not been predictable with several games turning out the opposite way than most people thought. The first unpredictable scoreline was Argentina versus Saudi Arabia. Going into the game Argentina looked very confident but throughout the game Saudi Arabia were pressing Argentina a lot. Although Messi scored a penalty and Saudi Arabia were 1-0 down, they started to build confidence and managed to score a nice goal that was placed perfectly into the bottom right corner.
The whole stadium was shocked and the Saudi Arabia fans went mental. From that point on Argentina kept making mistakes such as incomplete passes and offside runs. Not long after they scored their first Saudi Arabia scored their second which was shot nicely into the top corner. The Saudi Arabia fans got loud and the Argentinian fans had disappointed and shocked looks on their face from that point forward until the referee blew his final whistle.

Germany versus Japan was a similar story. Germany were awarded a penalty and they scored which put them 1 goal ahead. Germany had more and more chances and even hit the post. When the second half arrived Japan started to put pressure on Germany and managed to get a goal to make it 1-1. Shortly after (much like Saudi Arabia) Japan scored a second to make it 2-1 to Japan which was the decider. Japan fans were loud and faithful and (like Argentina) the German fans were shocked and disappointed.

Advance Australia

This morning at 2:00am, one of the greatest achievements in the history of Australia has been achieved. Graham Arnold (Socceroos manager) has led his team to victory against Denmark! In the 60th minute Australia made history, Matt Leckie, one of Australia's most talented and experienced players placed the ball into the right corner of the danish net.

Denmark players fell to the floor and the Aussies piled on top of Leckie. They knew the game wasn’t over but that didn't matter because when that whistle blew Australia celebrated the most they ever have. The last time they qualified for the knockout stages was in 2006 and couldn't make it any further, but with the support from the Australians can we beat our record and get to the quarter finals and shock the whole world.
